Well heres how it goes, i had the smit fraud pop up come about 2 times and my panda anti virus (payed for version) found it and Renamed it or something, and it found some other stuff and it deleted something, but i havent been getting the smit fraud pop up for a while now, but i think i may still have it, i heard that u have to turn off ur internet and system restore to find virus's really easy but im afraid that if i turn off system restore that my computer will get all messed up, so should i turn it off and then scan? and is rougefix and Smit Fraud removels really work or what? please help me people please.

Some well intentioned answerers here blindly start every advice with ''... turn off your system restore...''.

That isn't very good advice because when you turn off your system restore you lose all of your previous restore points, and once they're gone there's no going back (you can't do a system restore to back before you turned off your system restore.)

Sometimes even an infected restore point is better than none at all, such as if you turn it off and then unexpectedly lose the ability to connect to the internet... no restore point available... what now? Or how about if you turn it off and somehow you do something unwise to your registry? Now your registry is diced, but you have no restore points to fall back on. Now you're screwed.
