LOST- Black and White Symbolism?

Okay..the whole panda thing made me think of this. But the writers of Lost use alot images of black and white (ie...the panda, sun's dress she wore in the beginning, Rose and Bernard, the Dahrma symbol, many more...) Is this suppose to represent ying and yang, cause and effect, contrast. ?? If you haven't noticed check out Lostpedia.com and they kinda break it down.

I just want to know what y'all think! If i'm thinking too much let me know that too... :)

Yes, indeed one of the central themes of Lost is the balance between two opposing forces.

In one of the first episodes, ''Tabula Rasa'', Locke was setting up for a game of backgammon when Walt walks up inquiring into what Locke was doing. Locke begins explaining the game and holds up a piece from the two opposing sides - a light piece and a dark piece. This scene can be marked as the prologue in the story of John Locke.

To stay with the character, Locke, in season two, collides with Jack on one of the central themes explored on Lost - fact and faith. Locke, of course, takes path of faith and continues Desmond's crusade of continually ''pressing the button'' in the now imploded Hatch while Jack leaves him to his own (and probably to go cry somewhere too).

And again, the same issue is explored when Eko takes to pressing the button. However, Locke has lost his path and began doubting his original decision, frustrated that his toils and his unquestioning fath have not revealed to him a purpose or even satisfaction.
